The backbone of the Imperial Air Force (alongside a handful of other models, but easily the most prevalent of them), the H-21J is a small single seat (though a two seat variant is equally as common). It’s armament varies, though the standard is eight 12.7 heavy machine guns. Though some pilots would modify their aircraft, swapping some of the inner wing guns for 20mm cannons. It sports a single propellor, while the later model, the H-21K would feature a counter-rotating setup. Due to its pusher configuration, it features numerous safety features which most conventional fighters lack. The propellor can be jettisoned, either manually or automatically when the canopy’s emergency release is fired. It is also equipped with an early form of an ejection seat. Something with all Ebrian fighter aircraft would be equipped with. While the J model would slowly be phased out in favor of the vastly superior K model, some would remain in service. Though many would fall into the claws of pirates or private owners.
Of course, this is the iconic (is the game even recognize enough to be iconic…?) Devastator from the game Crimson Skies. The first one specifically, wasn’t really a fan of the Xbox sequel. Anyway, the game was a huge influence on my setting and was what got me into dieselpunk in the first place.
