Actually, the studies were quite sound, just somewhat miscommunicated. Talcum in and of itself isn't actually a carcinogen, but the problem is that the facilities that talcum is usually processed in have so much excess asbestos that they inevitably leak into the talcum, which is exactly what makes it so harmful.
