Religion in Thira is complex and fairly diverse throughout the world, considering all currently practiced religions are younger versions of one common ancestor. The most basic stories and divine figures are the same, but the details – and the names – vary more and more the further you go. For example, the divine figures in Sebral are naturally portrayed as roaring felines to fit their local worshippers, whereas in Lykon, the same characters are depicted as howling canines. Still, big-scale religious conflicts are unheard of, as two countries will never differ in their beliefs enough to create such disputes. Plus, no form of this religion encourages violence. Rather than a rulebook, it is a history book, teaching about the world and its past instead of commanding and controlling one's current life. The factual correctness of it is, of course, questionable at best, but its stories still carry valuable lessons.
One thing many versions have in common is the division of the old gods and younger gods. Old gods rule the wild; they are ruthless and always hungry, seeking prey that would satisfy them. They love ritualistic offerings and are more than happy to strike a deal with foolish mortals – a deal that often involves a nasty trick. The younger gods, who are often referred to as "our gods" by Thirians, came much later. They are the ones who supposedly taught mortals how to talk and how to use tools, but also taught of things like morality, justice or mercy. They are the patrons of civilization, and in order to keep their influence alive, every aspiring settlement builds at least a little shrine in their name. Bigger settlements usually have bigger temples that are used to store various scrolls and objects, and also to school pups. The belief is that, if you abandon your gods, you will turn back into a savage beast, forever doomed to simply feed the insatiable old gods with your flesh as the others. As such, it's important to tend to the shrine and its contents.

So new Powerwolf song dropped 3 weeks ago and I just HAD to draw something with the vibes. 3 weeks and I already overlistened to it :'))
The character depicted is actually an old character from my previous version of Thira! It's my friend's priest OC (one we created on accident), but since I can't draw humans, I turned him into a wolf and incorporated him into Thira as Farwell. That was a long time ago now, but I didn't forget about him! And when I started drawing this scene, I knew exactly who to put in x)) Now with a fancy coat!! Since neither werewolves or werecats need clothing (they have their own fur coat, they literally have no need for clothes), I imagine it's used sparingly and for a defined reason – such as religious practices.
