Hi everyone! So I'm twenty six weeks and four days into my surrogacy today with twins. I'm getting super uncomfortable symptoms this week. First of all I think I've been having Braxton Hicks contractions this week. If you don't know but it's a false contraction that acts like a real contraction, but it doesn't really hurt so it just it makes your belly really firm as your uterus contracts, but there's not any baby pushing force behind it. Kinda like practicing a golf swing without following the swing through. I don't have any reference so it could be my mind playing tricks on me when the pups move into a position that makes my belly really hard and really uncomfortable. Its irregular, but happening at least daily so that's why I'm kind of thinking that it might be actually Braxton Hicks contractions. I tried to get my coworker Margo to feel my belly when it happens (since she loves to feel them move) and she agrees with me because my belly will get all weirdly shaped for like a minute or so before relaxing. The pups don't like this either and will kick up a storm once my belly relaxes. So that's why I'm pretty sure it's Braxton Hicks and I'm going to ask my doctor about it at my next appointment and see what she thinks.
It's officially physically impossible for me to bend over anymore, it's really difficult to put my shoes on or pick something up. I have to sit on the group and do a weird yoga pose to put my shoes on and brace myself on something and do an awkward squat to pick anything up. Being single and pregnant is so hard... I wish I had someone to help me with tasks like this. I'm debating wearing sandals to work and asking Margo to help put on my work shoes when I get bigger... either that or grab an intern. My heartburn has come back with a vengeance, it's much worse than the first trimester and it makes me miserable in the mornings. Also their movements have graduated from 'cute to 'painful', Baby A seems to have the hiccups every single night around the same time and that'll wake up Baby B who will dig a foot into my diaphragm that'll THEN cause me to get the hiccups and than THAT will rile them both up into a fight and poor momma won't get to sleep until they tire themselves out. My skin has been really itchy this week and I think it's because it's starting to stretch thin. When I touch my belly I feel like I'm touching the baby because it's so stretched thin and because they're pushing out so much. My belly is sore and uncomfortable all the time and mixed with their movement I'm having a horrible time sleeping through the night. My bellybutton is especially sensitive on the outside and tender on the inside, the pain of having one of them roll at night and stick an elbow or knee into it is enough to wake me up.
Belly is at fourty and three fourth inches, so just a little bump this week!
Summery: Momma is having a tough time this week :(
