Bakunawa Rising (Freedom Planet 2 Fanart)
I rarely make Fanart, but every now and then a game comes along that captures my attention so thoroughly that I simply have to express my love for it. Recently Freedom Planet 2 has been doing that for me. I played through the first one at least a couple of times when that was new (and a couple more times when it wasn't anymore). Now the second part released not too long ago and improved a lot of the things that were already great about the first game.
One character I've really come around to loving is Milla Basset. She was part of the original trio of protagonists in the first game, but she was an unlockable bonus character and her gameplay could feel a bit like an afterthought as a result. Now she's a full fledged member of the core cast from the very beginning and I enjoyed playing as her a lot more as a result. She was always a very dorky and shy little doggy and immensely loveable as a result, so I am very happy to see she really came into her own in the new game. So here she is, using one of her floating phantom cubes to get a better look at the unfolding plot.

I clearly have to start paying better attention to the world of games, as this is a series that seems to have passed me by. But she is a super cute pupper, and I can see why you might take a shine to her. I like her big, green eyes to go with her shiny cube and accessories, and the beastie flying by overhead does look rather dangerous!
Oh for sure, there have been some absolutely incredible games in recent years, but it can be rather tricky to navigate. The sheer flood of both big budget as well as indie games can make it extremely hard to find the true gems like this one. Game development has become increasingly easier in recent years, and you can see so many talented people bringing their unique visions to life through them.
As for Freedom Planet, the games started out as a tribute to the old 2D Sonic the Hedgehog games (though in my opinion they surpassed their inspiration in nearly every way, especially the characters and writing). As such, they are very fast and action oriented platforming games, but they also have such charming and funny and incredibly warm-hearted writing and characters. If that sort of gameplay is anything you find interesting, I can highly recommend both games to you. (Sorry for gushing a little here, but these games genuinely make me really happy)

There really have been, and I'm very happy to see that gaming and the creation of games is something that has only become easier and easier to access. It can make it a bit more difficult for any one game to rise above the herd, I'm sure, but overall I think it's a positive thing.
I never was able to get much into the Sonic games. I played the first one very briefly and it made me a little bit motion sick. But if the Freedom Planet games are able to outshine their inspiration, I might give 'em a shot! I mostly play old-school RPGs, like Baldur's Gate or the Elder Scrolls games (though I still haven't played Skyrim), and I've recently developed a love of crafty/survival games. I've poured far, far too many hours into Raft, for a start. Though their last update, releasing the final chapter of the game, has made it a bit too beefy for my poor old computer to run smoothly.

Oh for sure! It's amazing to see what some people come up with if you give them the right tools to create their dream projects. But yeah, it certainly requires some digging and/or recommendations from friends to find the really good stuff. So if you ever come across something you really enjoy, feel free to let me know.
It might be worth looking up a few gameplay videos or something similar first then. The high speed aspect is certainly still there in these games, and if that gave you motion sickness I am not sure Freedom Planet would be that much of an enjoyable experience for you then. Best you judge that for yourself.
Ah yes, the good stuff! I haven't played Baldurs Gate myself, but the "sequel" Neverwinter Nights got so so many hours of play out of me. I was a bit late to the Elder Scrolls party with Oblivion being my first one, but I love the world of those games to death. I was briefly very addicted to Elder Scrolls Online too before I started making my comics... Actually starting my comics was what helped me break my pretty unhealthy obsession with that particular game.
As for crafty/survival games, I haven't really been able to get into them all that much, unfortunately. Though I did play Terraria for quite a while. That's probably the closest to that genre that I really enjoyed. I can certainly relate to PC problems as well. My limited funds as a student have had me stuck with hand-me-downs and second hand laptops most of the time, so high-end gaming was never really an option for me either. So a decent PC is high up on the to-buy list now.

I most certainly will, and likewise! I mostly rely on my brother and a handful of Let's Players on YouTube for finding new games, so any suggestions would be most welcome.
I'll be sure to look up game-play before buying. I tend to do that with any game, really, unless it would just completely ruin the story. But that doesn't often happen.
I got into the ES games pretty early, with Daggerfall being my first. I never actually finished that one, or did much more than mess around in the incredibly huge dungeons they had in that game. An experience made... interesting by your tendency to fall through the game world without warning. Morrowind was the first game I played to completion, and to this day I haven't been able to decide whether it or Oblivion are my favorites of the ones I've played. I'm very tempted by Skyrim, but I have so many games I haven't even finished yet. I probably won't go for ES Online, since my experience with WoW taught me I'm much happier going solo, but it does sound fun.
Not ever genre is for everyone, of course, and if your thing is fast paced games, I can see why the crafty/survival ones might not appeal so much. But that's another nice thing about the aforementioned boom in games/game creation. You can find something to fit just about any taste.
Best of luck to you with buying a new PC and getting one that'll do what you want! I'm putting thought into saving up for a new on myself, even though this one is only three years old. Not that I really need to, but sometimes it's nice to be able to do something 'cause you want to.

Oh for sure! There's a couple of games I've played in the past couple of years that I think you might enjoy too, and that run decently well on older PCs too. Just to name a few, Stories: The Path of Destinies is about a very overconfident fox rebel who gets stuck in a groundhogs day like timeloop. The Sexy Brutale (despite the name actually not a saucy game at all) is a murder mystery game where you use time travel to prevent said murders after investigating them. Pyre is probably my favorite game to date, where you play magic spiritual basketball to help your team of characters escape exile (you really can't summarize this game adequately in a single sentence...). And then there's Hollow Knight, more of a slower paced adventure game with beautiful art and music and a hauntingly melancholic atmosphere. Those would be some of my favorite games that I think might fit your tastes as well if you get the chance to look them up.
I certainly understand that. Large MMO games like that demand so much time and dedication (and a willingness to socialize with strangers) if you want to get the most out of them. I had a lot of fun with it back then, but they simply don't fit with the circumstances of my life anymore, and I feel that's overall a good thing.
Oh, I am not actually super focused on fast paced games. I like them too, but my favorites are probably the slow and methodical ones that demand a lot of skill, strategy and planning. Games like Civilization, Age of Wonders, Dyson Sphere Program, Darkest Dungeon, Fire Emblem and Dark Souls are probably what I like the most. Still, difficult reflex-based games like Furi, Dead Cells or the aforementioned Freedom Planet are great too! You are absolutely correct though, it's really a blessing we are getting such a variety of great games. And easy access to them too. So if there's anything in the crafting/survival genre you can recommend, I'd be more than happy to give it a look.

Sadly, my laptop has gotten to the point where I can’t play games now without having it lag so badly, but once my buddy (who’s also my next door neighbor) got a new gaming pc built for me (which will take time and money), that’s going to be the very first game I’m going to play!
