Colonel Edward Morris is a colonel in the 1st U.S. Army, serving under the head of the Americartoon Expeditionary Force, Lieutenant General Guy Rogard. He decided to enroll in the U.S. Army's Officer Candidate School (OCS) following the successful thwarting of the attempt to overthrow President Roosevelt by Major General Smedley Butler in 1934. In addition, his family was rendered destitute following the Great Depression, so for him, the army was also an opportunity for a steady income. He rose from 2nd Lieutenant in 1935 to Captain by the time of the United States' entry into the 2nd World War in 1941. Placed in charge of a field artillery unit, Morris initially saw combat in North Africartoonia between late 1942 and 1943, earning him the rank of Major. He would see a lot more action in Francartoon following the D-Day landings in 1944. His unit played a critical role in the Battle of the Bulge, providing fire support to delay a Jerryman Panzer division from taking a vital road junction leading to Bastogne.

The end of the war saw him taking on the role of a peacetime commander, overseeing training and drilling for the artillery unit. In the decade that followed, he would also be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, and later Colonel. The Battle of Cartoonia would see him thrust into action once more, with him being involved in the push to liberate Chicago from the Disney-Separatist forces. Now, Edward acts as the liaison between the 1st Army, the 5th Army, the Republic's 501st Battalion, and the 501st's subdivision, Chanticleer Bluth's 104th Composite Unit, alongside other notable figures such as General Rogard and Brigadier General Joe Adler. This task is crucial in that it helps coordinate battle plans between the four units during their combined assaults against Disney positions. While Edward, like many other Americartoon higher-ups, was initially doubtful of Chanticleer's capabilities, he took notice of Chanticleer's morale-boosting strategies and skilled usage of artillery salvos, and came to respect him. In fact, Edward saw a little bit of himself in Chanticleer when he observed Chanticleer skillfully directing a fire support mission against a fortified Disney line.

Edward is determined to win this war and make the universe a safe place free from the oppression of Disney, not only out of a sense of compassion for the people of Cartoonia and other worlds, but also for his wife and newborn son Mike. Edward would seek Chanticleer's help years later in 1968, enrolling Mike in his newly established Jedi Academy when Mike's Force powers started to manifest. Mike would be placed under the tutelage of Chanticleer's son William, and would be one of his most prolific students.
