Illustration made for Daqwoo for its project.
A spear with white metal and golden inscriptions, with a crimson red gem.
The description and history of the weapon:
Yldra's Fang, the Fate Splitter
Commissioned by the Goddess of Avarice, Deira and forged by the Mad Tinkerer, Gredthyr; the Fate Splitter is a sentient lance, meant to be the memento of the slain red dragoness, Yldra. Created through the combination of Infernal and Celestial materials and imbued with arcane flames from the Goddess herself. It was said, the Celestial metals came from the armour of Harbingers, the same Harbingers that slayed Yldra. A regal, and elegant weapon of great power, fit for a warrior to split the threads of fate.
It was no surprise when she gifted it to Livya, the daughter of Yldra, and niece at her coming-of-age ceremony; in the hopes that she would carry on her mother’s spirit. However, the cheers soon turned to shock, when upon taking up the lance, the weapon seared Livya’s hands, rejecting its supposed master. The magic embedded into the shaft and the gems were too strong, even for a remarkable dragoness, such as Livya. Discontent and enraged, Deira demanded the lance to be shattered and melted down, but her niece interjected.
Even if just for a moment, she felt the sentience of the lance. Roaring out as it seared her, but not out of rejection, but to test. From then on, Livya began her rigorous quest to tame the weapon, causing her to suffer scars that would never fully heal. Still determined none the less, and with the Fate Splitter partially tamed, they set out to fight the wars of the Dominion as one.
