Here is a billhook I recently made from a section of leaf spring salvaged from a dilapidated golf cart.
The handle is made from a wood that I have very little of and save for special purposes. The sections of wood used to make up the handles of an old True Temper wheelbarrow. The wood is very hard and doesn't like to be cut with a knife or chisel very well, so I have to go at it with rasps, files and the occasional touch up from a sanding belt.
I figured out that the wood is an Australian tree species known as "Bloodwood"
This tool is used for clearing vines, brush, thickets, and bush. It can be used just like a machete, but the main feature is the hook on it, which allows the user to hook and pull the entanglements.

Which kind of bloodwood?

Possibly this one…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corymbia_gummifera
The heartwood of C. gummifera is very strong and durable, but has extensive gum lines. It is used for rough construction purposes, such as poles, sleepers, fencing and mining timbers.
