i was for some reason thinking of the remake of the old capcom ducktales nes game that i guess is itself fairly old by now. i have long been of the belief that old video games worked specifically because they had cheap graphics and text only dialog, if any. stupid video game mechanics don't make sense if tv-accurate versions of the characters are engaging in them.
I watched a few minutes of that game maybe a year after it came out but it made me uncomfortable, so I have not checked on it since then or if the villains make any direct spoken acknowledgement of Scrooge trying to plunge the end of his cane into their craniums, and it may yet be some time before I do, if I do.
this sequence isn't original at all but imagining that stupid picture in the fourth frame accompanied by this statement was funny to me.

indeed my familiarity with that image comes more from internet people posting it accompanied by that text than my own familiarity with the actual video game since I think I only saw my older brother play through it and a long time ago, which is why the "download" file here is "scream and self defense.png"
