Oh yes. Oh YES. I knew it was coming. Especially with the row between Pixar and Disney. Zootopia itself had a number of moments where they went 'Let's be daring but not TOO daring, or people will get mad.' I kept my expectations low, because I highly doubted they'd go for anything too far from safe.
Still holding out for gay Nick though.

I prefer writing that makes sense over being "unexpected and bold" just for the sake of shock value. I don't know why you care so much about inciting a horde of angry fans when that's irrelevant to the quality of the writing itself. Once the drama blows over, all you'll be left with is a nonsensical mess that won't age well. Just look at what The Last Jedi did to Star Wars. Sure, it generated a lot of buzz when it came out, but after it was all said and done, not a lot of people really liked the movie upon rewatching it. The plot twists weren't surprising anymore, and that was all it really had to offer. Subverting expectations only works if it actually allows for good storytelling. Otherwise, it's just disappointing.
That's the thing though, I don't particularly care, it's an idle amusement. And perhaps an antidote to those who takes th4se things far too seriously. Frankly, I think anyone with the slightest bit of sense knows that Wildehopps is inescapable, it's far too profitable to ever be abandoned. But I'd certainly b amused if it were.
I hate how people have been conditioned to see any two male characters being together as being gay. It's so obnoxious, especially because it relies almost entirely on negative stereotypes about masculinity. If two female characters were shown together in a similar way, people most likely wouldn't think much of it, but when it involves male characters, people seem to think it's abnormal, so they jump straight to assuming there's some sort of homosexual element to it. Bogo and Clawhauser had no relationship in the movie aside from being awkward coworkers whose personalities clashed humorously. There was never supposed to be anything more to their relationship than that, so it's really frustrating to see people like Joaquin Baldwin trying to use them as a means of baiting audiences, especially when a much more believable case could be made for Bucky and Pronk.
Joaquin baldwin is gay and a furry. he is doing his best to get gay furries into the media. he shows that by pairing those two up, they knew they were queerbaiting, they now know how pissed people were when they saw it was a dream so hopefully that means they will do more in the sequel movie. people paired them for fun but apprently the creators also liked the idea and so tried doing something and also in the original movie showed bogo has a soft side, thats kinda gay. so of course people are going to think he is secretly gay. also yeah its confirmed bucky and pronk are married. also garry and larry are boyfriends too which the fans wanted, joaquin made possible and said yes those two are lovers. so he is trying to do something.
