Mild-mannered Poké-nerd DeadBedSpread held an event where people submit pokemon they designed, and then he drew them all in one big portrait. I was so impressed that I wished I were a fakemon creator so I could join something like that, but my standards for that craft are mostly above my skill level. Atm, I was just drawing my love for other people's creations. I concluded that I would have all the world's time to learn whether I'm cut out for design by the time the 'Fakemontage' gets a follow-up.
About two weeks later, DBS announced the theme and deadline of a Fakemontage follow-up. Swim or scramble!
I honestly thought I wasn't going to have anything doing for this contest, as the specimens have to fall under a theme of 'facial hair' of all things. That's like the opposite of my sensibility. But I accidentally got inspiration when one day I was thinking about Rolypolys, a computer game with strange character models. I was considering drawing a character with a nose like Pon, who has a blue bumpy nose with wires pointing out (at least that's how i remembered it) despite being a dog - and then the Fmage popped into my head. This was the origin point of my creation's design.
