It had been a relaxing day of reading a new book that Kyleigh had lent her, and now it was time for Heidi's nightly routine. She found that keeping a regular routine helped her from feeling so anxious at night, and so with a practiced rhythm, she got ready for bed.

First she put her hair up in curlers and wrapped them snugly with a silk handkerchief, before washing her face and brushing her teeth. Then she closed her curtains, not that her window really got much sunlight, but it kept her from feeling like someone was looking in at her from the darkness.

Finally, she slid into bed and turned off the lamp, her new book resting on the table for her to pick back up the next day, and her support cheese pillow tucked into the covers beside her. With a smile and a happy sigh, she settled into her soft, warm mattress and began her journey to safe sleeping.

Well... she would have anyway. As she repeated the phrase Kyleigh had her say before going to bed, another voice wished her a good night. Heidi, in her relaxed, sleepy, but most importantly polite state began to wish whoever it was a good night as well, just for her to realize what was happening. Her eyes shot open, now slightly more used to the dark, to see two scary forms lunging at her from the foot of the bed. She let out a scream before being overpowered.
