Imps are a member of the goblin family, however slightly different enough to be classified as its own breed. Much like Hobgoblins, Imps range from two to three feet in height, but are not nearly as intelligent. Another difference, Imps are not nearly as strong as Goblins. These creatures are a perfect in between. Luckily Imps cannot cast magic, nor have the intelligence to do so. They always travel and live in clusters referred to as a "Gob" and often coexist with Goblins. Often traveling out of their dwellings, Imps will steal property or kidnap and bring their findings back to their nest. Imps will cower to any Goblin and are often looked as underlings. It is not uncommon for a hungry Goblin to eat an Imp, surprisingly enough, actions such as this to not encourage Imps to fight back or flee.

If you can appear intimidating or easily confuse them, they will retreat scared.
If you have experience and have the skills to slay multiple monsters, then you'll be just fine.
If you cannot appear intimidating or lack the skills for basic monster combat, then you should retreat quickly. They will chase you, but they're smaller and not as fast as an average person so you should be safe. Also, they will often abandon a chase if you drop something unique or shiny. Often ending in a quarl with each other over ownership.

Not domesticated, but trained to a certain extent. In time, an imp will seek out a gob of its own.
Case studies have been done in "domesticated/trained" imps. These imps are always looking for the first opportunity to escape into the wild. They are easily frightened when alone, but are much more brazen or relaxed in a gob. The problem with these particular imps, is that if they become familiar with an area. They will feel more welcome to invade with a gob to steal or feed at that familiar location.

No, and it's never wise to approach a gob unless you're prepared to slay them.
In their gob, they are far more alert and will follow each other's actions. Your chances are far better off 1 on 1, but like before..... it will just become familiar with you and no longer fear you, which will only emboldened it.
