Just been thinkin about givin those lizzers a fresh pelt to spice up some looks and whatnot and now that things are assembled and I have a small collection of various concept doodles from the past two weeks here they are! Perhaps will give folks a better concept of what i am looking to do.
There is a lore explanation on this that could fit, it wouldn't be overriding anything that happened in the comic but rather, hypothetically, would start to happen over time as drekir "rewild" from the control of the prejager and dwindling remnants of reality warping power a prior Õndemic entity had that made the drekir as they are today, the Prejarngalmõk. So after centuries from this prejarngalmõk being ripped into the many prejager of the sivilão in the modern dragonscape Òndemic reality has begun to naturally "reallign" and an affect of that are these previously manipulated species of dragons to "rewild" and take on some of the long lost traits of their predecessor species, the Ëldimor. Some come quick some take centuries to form.
Of course this is deeper lore that you would mostly find bits on the website and is explained mostly on the server, not at all touched in the comic but hey, there is an explanation.
So on the fur
Moving top down on the drawing descriptions
First are just some headshots of random drekir, conceptuals to show how drekir may decorate their fur without dying or cutting it (ill draw that later). So beads, braids, tags and pins. These guys aren't tied to specific cultures and are just miscellaneous drekir outside of settled canon dressing themselves up as they do best.
Then there are some general looks at how the fur may work amongst the 3 most affected breeds, being foreign, temperate, and arid and some general concepts for how fur differs.
Foreign drekir may grow fur of any sort, just like how they may produce any color of scales and aren't bound to breed, their fur may be curvy or puffy, straight and long or short and matted, etc.
Temperate drekir may grow long, relatively straight (though may curl) fur that is commonly darkly colored in some way. Mostly useful for dissipating rain or snow and keeping heat from getting sucked from the back by the cold.
Arid drekir may grow shortish very curled hair of a bright color. Which is mostly about not absorbing much heat and presenting a lot of surface area to disperse heat while still helping keep some of their ectothermically valuable body heat inside of them.
And lastly are some characters given fur as a hypothetical.
Sarah, given an aging silvered fur to match their slowly charcoaling scales as they get ever older.
A Hiker given a short mat of curly durly, felt it was the way to go for a hiker fur.
And Ralan with both a bit of fur and a bit more intensive decoration. As any well minded Broncen knows, if you can tie copper to it, you should tie copper to it.
That's it ok bye!

I tend to imagine Hiker as the sort that would just keep their fur presentable without getting too crazy with it personally.
And yeah I am sure you give Ralan enough time they will slip a good number more of copper beads and bands to their pelt I can't blame them with such an oppurtunity

Like those we saw before, but a bit more tribal. Sarah still looks good! The hiker, I guess I'm just not a fan of that style of fur even if it makes sense and tones down the overriding purple a bit.
Yeah that's an earlier concept of the Ëldimor, which is of course what drekir are partially "rewilding into", never becoming Ëldimor but taking on some Ëldim traits
The character designs are not final so it should be cool, ill take some time to tweak character assuming i go with fur
