I went through a couple of years of college in the mid 1970s (yes, I'm old) and finished up in the early 1990s, right around the time the first energy drinks started to appear. When I went back to school in 1989 I had just replaced my home, and my job as a security guard wasn't going to keep making mortgage payments. Drastic times and all...
Yeah.. I'm glad I wasn't born back then. Then half of my would have been spent in the Soviet Union which would suck.
Growing up in the 90s, there was a huge flood of american culture in Russia: books, movies, music, everything that was prohibited for decades has arrived to our market. We were looking at the america of 70-s, 80-s and 90-s and wanted Russia to become as prosperous as we've seen on VHS. As much as our government wants to distance itself from the United States as a "Potential geopolitical enemy", millenials and younger people still love american stuff.

Story Time:
One time, I was coming back home from groceries. The owner of the house across my street was having a very loud argument with the delivery kid (Who looked in her early teens and was wearing a backpack so thin I could see the outlines of her school books), She kept saying "I'm really sorry, My bike broke! It's not even that cold!", The house owner, Who had a big box of pizza in his hand, Said "I don't care! Give me my money back or I'm calling the police! This is robbery!" (I swear to God, Some people...), I looked at her bike and saw that one of it's tires was deflated and out of the rim. I walked towards them and asked the delivery kid how much it costed. The house owner said "Piss off! None of your business!"I got a little pissed, So I decided to say "Oh? Are YOU the delivery? Then tell me, How much did it cost?", The owner go so angry the vein on his head looked like a tree vine. xD
The delivery kid said "It's 15$" while looking down. I gave the house owner 20$ and said "Keep the change deep inside your ass.", He took the money and the pizza and slammed the door so hard I could hear he broke something inside. xD
I then gave the kid 100$ saying "There's a bike shop around the corner, The owner's a friend of mine, Tell 'em Amir sent you to get your bike fixed up. Ask for the 'Personal Deluxe', It'll only cost 50$ (The "Personal Deluxe" is the code name for changing the tires, Oiling along with some wrenching. It costs 200$, But the Sam (The owner) knows that I'll pay the rest.). The kid thanked me twice and I pushed her tires back into alignment so she could reach the shop easier.
God forbid people realize the hardship of others, I guess.
I also called the police and reported that house owner for excessive noise just for the hell of it. xD
(He got a 20$ ticket xD. If that isn't the proof of karma, I don't know what is.)
