"Long ago, when the land still festered with cultic enclaves, abomination dens and undead hoards pouring out of ancient tombs, the old Irlyrina lineage shared their place amongst the sword's coast's tyrants, zealots of draconic lords rewarded amongst all others for their durable services expected to last for every foreseeable generations with the mingling of their blood and consorting of their heirs with the very things they elevated onto greater heights.

When time came however for cruelty and dark consorts to leave the land in favor of nobility of cause and heart, when tyranny was warred upon by unlikely alliances, a descendant dissenter of the old ways saw the slim opportunity to put an end to their oppression and led, strong of an army a bloody repressive rebellion, driving their swords into the heart of an evil they had but one generation prior been a part of, opening the way through gore and guts to a brighter future free of oppression.

And thus, through the diplomatic insight and trickery of their new rulers were the former Irlyrina renamed De Valvyn and positioned as Waterdavian Grand Dukes, so that they firsthand may right the wrongs of their ancestors, eradicate up to the very trace of their land's old ways and shield their new masters from the wrath and spite of lingering, hiding old tyrants.

Vile traitors to their old allies, un-salvageable opportunists who had all to win and nothing to loose to their own courts and neighbouring allies, the De Vavyn still stand five generations later, preserving peace, quiet and justice, organising, training the waterdavian forces and supervising all manners of military efforts, victors of a thankless war patiently waiting for their old betrayed patrons to come and try to collect their dues."
