Not necessarily. It appears that he has a decently-sized optic mounted on the reciever, which could lend to a sort of designated marksman role, and a longer barrel is definitely conducive to that. Although, a designated marksman wouldn't logically travel alone, much less at point.... but who only Sikes could tell us what the backstory is. x3

Man I still think that pic is sweet. *Drool* And that barrel seems about right to me, udging by the size of the magazine I'd estimate the barrel to be just ever so slightly shorter than that of an SA80, another 556 rifle. The Sight reminds me a LOT of the CWIS (I hope I got them initials right) Night Vision Sight, as its about the same bulk.

I am somewhat curious as to which side the ejection port is on, as I cant see one on the right side, leading me to belive he likes taking scolding hot spent rounds to the face. BDSM soldier?
