Alon's condition rapidly worsens, and the clan gathers to hear him pass on his title and give his final orders to the clan. But not everyone likes what he has to say...

This is another chapter that could have used a rewrite. Reading back over it, a lot of things seem oversimplified, artificial and a bit heavy-handed; however, I do very much like Alon and Nesleh's brief spiritual discussion, and the spiritual beliefs that dragons have in general (I forget how much more detail about that will be given, later on).
And of course it would be Carnoc, the most temperamental and dangerous of all the dragons, who gets caught by humans. They better hope that he doesn't wake up, they tie him up tight, or both... Enjoy. :3
Comments and critique greatly appreciated.

Now you see what you've done? Now I'm wanting to read more of the story but you haven't posted it yet.
I'm curious who Chris's guy in Canada is. Is he another Drake? Or is he one who just watches over the dragoness' place? A couple other things I'm wondering. Alon mentioned that Chris should be informed that they might need to leave early, but none of the dragons were mentioned that they went, so was he ever informed? Also, I'm curious which dragon (or dragons) it was who went to the ruins and left a scale behind. My instincts tell me that it was Carnoc, but again it doesn't explicitly say, so that's only speculation at this point =)
Enjoying the story so far, and hope to read more soon =)

Hehee :3 Good to know the story's engaging!
He's just a guy. :P He doesn't watch over the dragonesses, though, they're much farther away than Canada. As for informing him... maybe? I forget exactly how I arranged it, or maybe I forgot to. >.< The dragon who went to the ruins is just a random curious one, though, and wasn't Carnoc, though I never do specify who it was.

I can see the resemblance to Heuroc; Ambushed at the same location (type), and then being just as Pissed off about it happening to him.
If I were the Scientists, my procedure after K.O.ing target dragon would include: Safely, securely, and gently transporting the dragon to a safe house, binding him so as not injure the researchers or himself (leg, tail, and neck anchored wings bound shut and an open muzzle with a remote locking system) and taking simple samples (1 scale, a quarter-ounce of blood) while he's out, but not testing them until you see if you can communicate with him. and of course, releasing him unharmed to build trust.

Hey ANY human that just found out dragons were real would be Sh!ting bricks at the suggestion of CAPTURING one XD It's the most dangerous of all species, known or unknown. (unless you count Poisonous/venomous as the most dangerous) Like you've said, "Fear can cause anyone to make bad decisions". Keeping your cool around a firebreather is not an easy task.
