I noticed a lot of noise in the background that I couldn't see with my old monitor, so I spent some time cleaning this up. I removed all of the shading from behind the character with the polygon lasso tool, then added some gradients and gentle texture. Also tweaked the text elements.
Character done in pencil & grey marker + some background editing in Photoshop CS2
