"An extremely fast dappled female deer larger than a bull, it had golden antlers, bronze or brass hooves, and the ability to breathe fire. Originally from a herd of five, the goddess Artemis captured four for her chariot and let one escape. Heracles was told to capture it alive for Eurystheus as the third of his twelve labors. Knowing the deer was sacred to Artemis, he carefully tracked it for over a year before successfully subduing it. While she was initially furious, Heracles was able to explain the situation and allowed to complete his task, promising to release the deer back into the wild."
