My artblock seems to be getting better since I managed to draw this and didn’t feel burnt out or disliked it. Looking over Gaze’s previous references helped, but I also couldn’t believe it’s been a year since I drew this ref of him. It’s still not bad, but I’ve improved a fair amount and updating refs is my go-to whenever my style continues to develop. Design wise, nothing’s changed, although I did make his tailmaw much bigger (I had the most fun drawing it if you couldn’t tell), but physical attributes did change. His face is more slanted downward instead of straight ahead, and I gave him more of a dad bod, but maintained his muscle. He could also punt an entire man across a field with those legs.
