Hee-Ho, hello everyone! Time to finally show off this collab I've been teasing here and there. A Collaboration with my friend, Fethurz on the world of Apex's Platter. The name for the setting that is being currently worked upon. A realm that is somewhat connected to Skin to Scales in characters alone. A universe that is completely separated from the Faceless invasions, monster fights and is more of a contemporary setting.
In one of my posts, I've already stated that Thomza has multiple bodies, multiple forms and also travels from multiverse to multiverse to check for Faceless threats. If they do not exist? He vanishes without a trace, like he wasn't even ever there. It just so happens that one of these times that he accidentally bumps into an anthro dinosaur known as Ruem. After apologizing, paying for her stuff that he supposedly destroyed the two of them traveled back to her apartment. Thomza was in absolutely no rush of going anywhere, so he decided to stay and help her out further. Days, weeks pass, and she starts to grow used to his company. Such as the two sharing stories from two entirely different settings. Ruem comes from someplace way more contemporary, while Thomza on the other hand comes from a wild fantasy land where the clouds are made out of actual harvestable materials. Where Knights fight gigantic dragons or dimensional invaders is just a weekly thing that happens. Ruem's realm? It doesn't have any of that and is closer to the life many of us are accustomed to with a few twists' bizarre twists. Still settling itself in a fantasy realm, but way more grounded.
Now we get to this scene. A scene where Ruem once was very closed off from Thomza and only kept him around as a tool for her to use... Opening up to him as the two vaguely speak about their mothers. That Thomza never really got to know his mother, and all that he knows is that she's some primordial being. Ruem on the other hand, really wouldn't rather speak about it. That something had happened in her past and there's something in her home that's locked away. That once she retreats from the conversation Thomza is left alone on the balcony before going off to find her. That for once in a very long time, Thomza is not fighting against monsters. That he isn't getting into daily fights for his life (sorta, she is a dinosuar)- and that Thomza believes she needs somebody. That he would stay and help her through with what she needs let it be a friend, a partner, anything. That deep down in his heart, all he does is want to stick to his ideals and that is to help people.
Now onto the creative process of this image. An original sketch of this image was made a few weeks back. That I had grand ideas that I was simply just too afraid of pulling off. Then I just... Sort of went with it. Like I was nervous about drawing a city or how the moon would reflect off the water, all that sort of stuff. How the city would seem so far away, but seem imposing or... Well, the use of colors that I was going to go for and how they reflect off and change the mood and look of the scene. One of sorrow and holding back the tears of a past that was never meant to be. Regardless it's been a lot of fun working on this setting that isn't entirely Skin to Scales for once. Anyways, have a good one everybody, and this will be cementing Ruem in the grand scheme of the setting and much more to come. Thank you all for reading you are all truly wonderful.
Disclaimer and Copyright: Thomza being involved, and the artwork belongs to me. The Skin to Scales universe also belongs to me there... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system. There are also many satirical tones as well... Ruem belongs to Fethurz and the collaboration we're working on of Apex's Platter also of course goes to Fethurz. It is a collaborated writhing project, and I will give credit where credit is due.
