Since he's pretty different when it comes to Ink Demons, I can consider him an original character. I'm still working on his story, so all I have is he uses a cuter plush version of himself to seem appealing to kids, and eat their toys so he'll get all the attention. Because he's immortal, he has no issue moving on from one child to the next, becoming their protector until they die.
