Earlier this week, myself and a few of my musician friends got together and put on a nice Traditional Irish Folk Music session at a Pub in downtown Joliet, IL. It was a great time with seeing 5 of the 8 regulars we used to have at these sessions. Unfortunately that night's blizzard kept a few of the further ones away.
We played probably a couple dozen Jigs, Reels, Slides etc and threw in a few pub songs as well. This submission is one of those songs. It is called Ride On by Christie Moore. I thought it would be appropriate to post this song here in a furry site since we're singing about a horse.
The lyrics are as follows, if you want to sing along, you know I will. Oh one of the voices singing is my own too. But the main singer is Charlie Champress.
Ride On
by, Christie Moore
True you ride the finest horse I have ever seen
Standing sixteen, one or two, with eyes wild and green
And you ride the horse so well, hands light to the touch
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to
When you ride into the night without a trace behind
Run your claw along my gut, one last time
I turn to face an empty space, where once you used to lie
And look for a spark that lights the night
Through a teardrop in my eye
Ride on, see you, I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to
