Imagine how she'll feel about Sonic. While she wouldn't agree with her cousin Ivo's cruelty, she'd be absolutely floored by Sonic's existence, especially by the time of Sonic Adventure 1. Everything that her grandfather did to make the Ultimate Life form, nature was already several steps ahead. Not only that, but unlike Shadow, Sonic's potential is continuous and latent, and improves overtime, while Shadow's while physically superior to Sonic, remains stagnant.
She wouldn't hate Sonic, especially if GUN (in their stupidity) mistakes him for Shadow, but Maria would subconsciously question if Gerald's efforts to create the Ultimate Life form were somewhat wasted when nature already was crafting and continuously testing it's own natural apex warrior, who also had friends to rely upon.
