The reason Meri feels so comfortable with being Yticilef, the evil twin of Felicity, is because as a demon whose job is to take the souls of men or anyone who falls prey to their own lust, she sees herself as a bad guy. She knows that no matter how hard she tries to be good, she has to eventually go back to the mortal world to do her main job as a Succubus and she hates that.

One of the main reasons she finds the Married Life so tempting and freeing is because it's one of the few things as a Succubus that she can have that sense of freedom from her duty and not drag in the souls she believes to be innocent... you can probably guess what it's like when she condemns the man she fell in love and the betrayal on his face when it happens. It kinda traumatized her, and it was one of the main reasons she started to become more of a good person among the Succubi.

She pretty much earned her reputation of being the kindest Succubus is because she would rather help out and ease the burden of the Succubus life from her fellow sisters. In fact she more or less became an unsung heroine among the other demons with the amount of help she's been doing with her sisters. Even though she's spending time helping others, she can't shake the fact that at the end of the day she's technically a bad guy.

Although, she could've just come after the least likely "innocent" souls when she has to do her actual job, but she came to really not like dealing with them and gravitating towards the more "innocent ones" that are looking for love more than Lust. Although she does get proven wrong with some of the targets she got turned out to be worse than she thought, the guilt of what she's doing doesn't really go away.

So, before the whole cartoon cat thing, she always felt like she was the bad guy and was destined to stay that way no matter how hard she tries. This is why she's so lucky to have Felicity and Unikitty to help her in this moment of weakness and comfort her and help her understand she isn't really a bad guy. She's actually like Wreck-it-Ralph she may be a bad guy as her main job, she doesn't actually have to be a bad person. Though now that she's engaged she's pretty much safe from doing this job for quite a while, but the guilt of what she's done is still haunting her and hopefully with her unofficial sister and brand new friend, she can finally come to terms with her demon half in a much deeper level.
