After i'd been drawing Raffa and Vincent for awhile and figuring-out their story, it occurred to me that there would also be female Rangers who might fall for anthro-people. i drew this anthro/human couple a few times, but nothing really came to me as a story - they never even got names - i just refered to them as "the others".
This was from late '05 - a little inked sketch ( approx 3 x 4 in ) on a sketch page just above this panel :

In '07 i finished out the panel digitally as parts of it were cut off by other panels on the original page. In the last two days i added the digital cross-hatching and tones. i wanted the end result to look something like a '80's shojo manga where some pages were printed with coloured ink on cheap paper - so i also gave this a sort of cheap paper texture ( there's v3 with half-tones that i'll post to scaps eventually ).

This is the PG version of the picture, just cuz i thought it might be cuter.
You know how Raffa didn't wear clothes before meeting the humans ? Neither did this guy in the original sketch - and his romantic-intentions/desire were hence quite obvious. i thought this version was a bit more playful.

He's been her guide in the fox wilderness territories for a few weeks ... so they are associates in helping the human and post-human societies understand each other - they've shared meals, stories, laughter, etc. And he's got ideas that they could be more - so he's putting on the charm and sweet talk and the paw on hand touch ... and she's taken a bit aback by this - surprised - but .......

I like to imagine a lot of Rangers are there to protect the wild life, as it's a way to be paid to be close to nature. I really like the theme of this piece a lot. Plus it reminds me of the theme of connecting two disconnected worlds through affection and love for the same kind of idea.
