After several YCH commissions, this time I commissioned an individual work from the highly appreciated artist
BigGoodWolf
This is a small tribute to one of my favourite cities, with which I associate fond memories... Prague
As a teenager, I had visited the city twice with my parents and my sister in the summer... after traditional holidays in Italy and Austria before, in retrospect the last holidays abroad we had taken together as a family.
The official graduation trip of my school class also took me to this city for about a week at the end of the 90s... with interesting sightseeing tours and more personal conversations with teachers who now - so close to the final exams - no longer treated us like pupils but young adults who would soon leave school for higher studies or working life...
Equipped with a driving licence and individual freedom, one of my best friends and I went to Prague in 2006... visited bars and enjoyed the nightlife until sunrise, before we went to see museums, castles and partly ancient crafts in and around Prague.... and bought swords from forges.
In 2018, I returned to Prague for a week when a "Two Steps from Hell" concert was performed there for the first time... and it was there that I first met my favourite composer Thomas Bergersen live ...
Equipped with my SLR camera, I experienced this city all to myself in that week and let the city have a completely different effect on me once again....
I walked across the more than 600-year-old Charles Bridge in the early dawn with little tourist traffic and watched the swans on the Vltava River
I visit the old bridge tower in the evening and let the lights of the city take effect on me
I strolled through the historic quarter at the foot of Prague Castle Hill and visited the Golden Lane and St. Vitus Cathedral in Hradcany... bought a small souvenir made of crystal glass with a horse motif and ate a delicious potato soup in a small, rustic inn...
I had a shot of old times at the Ice Bar, listened to street performers at the Beatles Wall... reminisced about old childhood memories at the Lego Museum and many other places...
... and I'm always happy to see that in this beautiful city, individuality in craftsmanship and art can still be seen in many corners, as it is unfortunately being lost more and more in many big cities here in Germany.
I like to walk through cities where you still have the feeling of walking through history.
Prague.... I hope I see you again
