Major Amaranthe Savine, field commander of the Blood Battalion, 'The Sword of the Battalion', and M'rai Scourgemaw, strike commander of the Blood Battalion, 'The Fang of the Battalion'.

M'rai was trained from childhood as part of an allied force of mercenaries being sent from Sorbekke to aid the Drakonia Imperium in the Three Scar War. The Imperium force's leaders assigned Amaranthe as Blood Battalion's handler and field commander. The Battalion specialized in taking out spellcasters and mages.

Their first mission was a test mission essentially, where they had to cut off a supply line of magical components. It was chaos in the standard "M'rai and Amaranthe butt heads as they struggle against each other for control" way. The mission got done, but it only cemented the Imperium's insistence that the Battalion needed oversight and meant that Amaranthe got stuck with them and they with her.

Things came to a head after a mix of successful and chaotic missions with a lot of resultant injuries (but thankfully few, if any, casualties thanks to the skills of the medics of the Battalion). Both eventually learned to respect the other but...it did take a literal fight.
