I agree, the lop-eared guy is cute. ^^
All of these guys look like different characters, because each view is inconsistent to the next. Look at the distance between the eyes especially, though there's also some discrepancies in face shape (top view is the most different from any other view). I find it infinitely helpful to draw the front, side, and back view along a straight line and line up the features with a ruler. Then once you have this really definitive guide on how to draw the character, any other view you draw it in is a bit easier.
What makes a character unique isn't markings, coloration, or even ear shape, it's the overall proportions. In cartooning and realism alike, the proportions make a subject recognizable. :3
