Death's Dance for piano and orchestra (Liszt), Second Half
Through my many bouts with death, none have been more difficult than this! I mean the corpse was able to get the sound of every instrument of the orchestra from death's piano! I don't even have fingers... is it even possible to win against the deceased at their own game? I mean, for all I know I might be playing against Liszt's ex-body! You can hear that the forces of death win in the end; the orchestra overtakes me! D=
Well, yesterday I received a wonderful surprise from gatogato, http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4991022/ I've also used it as the thumbnail. And it was on Christmas day too! How cool.
Now, this is Liszt's Totentanz... A very recent recording too! It's from the final rehearsal we had before the concert, recorded by some audio engineering students for practice, so the quality is tip top! I'm the fellow playing the piano. I hope you all enjoy!

And now I'm heading off to bed, since it's super-early morning

So that skeleton was Liszt himself! I have been wondering who your opponent/partner was.
Wow, the energy in the first part is breathtaking - I imagine that you play all quicker, funnier parts with your cats paws while Mr. Corpse outplays you with his six fingered hands in the last part.
I've been also looking into Liszts Version of the Danse Makabre and this is by far the best version I've heard, even if I hear it now through my meager laptop speakers (brrr, a crime to listen to music this way. sorry. I can imagine that the audience was blown away.. wait.. was there even an audience, I didn't hear people).

Aye! Quite a surprise for me as well. Fortunately he was happy that I could play his music, so he went a little easy on me. ¬¬
Oh yeah , Liszt was totally great with his music, it's always so full of life and energy. I do detest it when people call him bombastic (they're just jealous. =P).
Yeah, I doubt that Sir Corpse could be beaten by a two pawed cat. At least the skeletons are getting a kick out of it, it must be one hell of a show to see a cat with six translucent arms!
Aw, I'm too happy you think so! That's some high praise! =D The conductor was wonderful; he studied Liszt all his student and professional life, so he really knew what to do with the notes. The orchestra was super professional as well, so it all fit wonderfully. Thank you!
As for laptop speakers... hehe, they won't give you the oomph this music has, but you know, if you're on the road, why not? I use them once in a while (a good recording has to sound passable on a laptop as well!), though if you get a cool pair of headphones, put this on at full blast... ha! That's quite an experience. The people who recorded this really did do a grandiose job in so short a time! We recorded this version here in the final rehearsal, so there was no audience to make noise. Of course, a few hours later there was an audience, and I can safely say that they were rather stunned by the music! (that and no-one expected such a 'dark' piece on the Christmas season. =P)

This section has got to be the most exciting one, it's full of contrast and instruments trying to climb on top of each other!
But I am afraid that it is possible... D= Fortunately these ghouls just wanted to teach me a lesson; not to insult their dancemaster, no matter how horrible he is!
Hehe, that would be fun! I can imagine the chase that would follow... her and I running from a thousand spectres, and all of them coming out of the graves, rather pissed off, because she ripped me off the piano before we finished our little duel... Oh oh... D=
