"What was this stuff? It's so... sticky..." The young woman asked herself as she tugged at the numerous strands of sticky silk that entangled her. the material was thin, and looked as if it should be easy to break, but the more she pulled her arms out, and shuffled her legs, the tighter and more restrictive the elastic threads became. They would only pull so far before being snapped back in place, pinning her limbs to the massive net.
Her head turned back and forth, looking at her surroundings. the light glittered off a massive, spiraling structure in which she was stuck right near the middle. Her mind raced to think of some clear answer, but the more she thought, the more her mind continued to return to the same thought. It was a spider's web. She shook her head. That couldn't be possible, there was no such thing as a spider THIS large, or even a small one that could make this strong of a structure... right?
Slowly she began to tug at the lines, trying desperately to free herself, but it was far too difficult to do on her own, so she called out into the woods "Hello? Is anyone out there? I'm...NNNNGH!!! I'm stuck! Help! Anyone?" She called into the wilderness, but was met only with silence, her voice being swallowed up by the numerous trees and bushes that surrounded her.
The web was now wound around her body, her struggles only managing to tie it around herself. bits of the silk clung to her hair and face, leaving behind a merciless tickling sensation. How would she ever get out of this?
As she felt her body fall into exhaustion once again she laid back against the web, negating nearly all the progress she had made. in that moment, she noticed something... a movement coming from her left side.
The strands at her shoulder pulled upward, moving back and forth as if something were pulling upon her. She turned to look, her head craning and her eyes squinting to see through the canopy. She wished she hadn't...
The helpless woman's eyes widened in sheer terror, her mouth hanging agape and quivering as her voice was locked in her throat. her heart raced in her chest, and her head throbbed as adrenaline took over her body.
Staring back at her from the top of the trees a massive spider was crawling leg over leg toward her, creeping ever closer with each step. it's head was white with beady, oil-spot eyes. It had long, slender black and orange legs and dragged behind it a bulbous, yellow-striped abdomen as it moved toward her.
Only after the moment of shock wore off was she able to take in a deep breath and let out a shrill scream of abject horror. She twisted her body in the web, pulling opposite to the looming creature as she fought to tear away from the web.
The spider rushed in toward its catch as it felt her struggles intensify, Ready to detain her before its meal could escape.
Just a little part 1 of a small sketch I did. not sure if I'll continue it to completion or not, just something I wanted to work on just to get the idea out of my head and drawn.
