mastering perspective helps a lot there, drawabox.com is good for learning perspective, so are scott robertson's books

I completed a course in perspective in college, art school, and I more or less understand how it works, but I need practice

for the most part, it is difficult for me to furnish the interior or background with furniture, decorations, and so on
and i think books help so it's good advice

yeah there's lots of different furniture out there, and styles, try drawing some specific furniture on its own in three dimensions so you understand what forms it has for any perspective and how to draw that out. working from the proportions first, in perspective, you can learn from projecting floorplans of rooms into space. or if you really don't like that just use photos and pursue perspective matching and draw overs of your own design :3
