Check out Guy Ritchie's film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Actually makes Excalibur a terrifying weapon. Amazing movie all around.

The caster is a definitely a cool weapon! It's only downside is needing to go to a lewd hot spring planet to get more ammunition. The cloak fits the show's aesthetic too. I like it.

Thoroughly blinding yourself seems to be another downside... that's an *awful* lot of muzzle flash.

And the fact that the most powerful shells also steal your lifeforce to fire

technically the only reason they need to take a bit of the user's life force is because natural mana has decreased over the generations, I bet if they could find a new source of natural mana the bullets would work normally...damn that would have been a good storyline for a second season...

...How is that a downside?

I don't know anything about the show, but that is a very cool (and well-drawn) gun.

Outlaw Star is my favorite classic anime, and the caster is basically a gun that shoots magic, it's one of the coolest anime weapons ever

I think it captures the look and feel of the show quite well, I grew up with it, right beside Dragon ball Z and sailor moon.
-I remember watching this anime back in the early 2000's on Toonami. Gene Starwind carried the Caster Blaster, which power varied depending on the shell, they all was numbered, the lower the number the more powerful the blast. The #1 shell being the most powerful and in the entire series James could only find one of these things. James was a kid, properly hasn't hit puberty but was knowledgeable about electronic systems and repairs, and often was the one to source out supplies. Looking back, I find it odd that out of the entire team they would sent a kid down to places that make a ghetto look like a nice neighborhood to get stuff.. but a good show non the less

My first thought when i seen this was "Hey that's a caster gun". That was a fun anime to watch.

Kind of remindsd me of a cheesy sci-fi film called Laserblast. This is great.
