"While certain qualities vary between stories, the Deer Woman is generally associated with fertility and respect towards women, appearing as a human female with deer feet, or sometimes simply a deer. In her benevolent form she is seen as a sign of personal transformation or even a warning. She is more known for joining in communal dances and luring lesser men away. If they do not see her for what she truly is they will be lost forever, sometimes killed. Some stories say she is a victim of a violent rape left to die alone in the woods, brought back to life with a vengeful spirit."
