As I understand it, and don't quote me on it cause it's been awhile, "Fursona doesn't exist" uses an AI to to compile and sort a number of furry profile shots based on style, species, color, etc etc etc. It then takes this data and puts it into a sort of pool to produce profile shots based off the common factors detected, allowing the AI kinda morph and sculpt the picture in question. So rather than outright teaching an AI to draw, it kinda is given images and told to sculpt it into something commonly found across them like color, height, weight, etc etc.
I tried it like 2020 before AI art really took off it and was kinda interesting with it's character generation considering it worked closer to say Skyrim or the Sims, several bars and gauges to flick and tweak. Though that might be more for supporters now, I don't even see how to actually access it these days, and I heard not all the images or references they used were provided willingly but that's a whole other matter.
At the time I thought it was just something neat and goofy. Now.... well should have been way more worried.
