Having already done Scotland in 2008 and Canada and the United States in 2009 I finally made the fourth in my series of cartoon maps! :) This time it is the land down under ^^.
After an aborted attempt at Europe and then later considering the United Kingdom, I went back to one of my earlier suggestions. I've tried to make the whole area look a little more rough and detailed, but heck, there's only so much to add!

No, actually there are no rules saying north is up ro south is down cause if you havent seen there are maps that display maps as south is up and north is down, its all in our perspective http://cultivatedpages.files.wordpr.....world-map2.gif
Red Kangaroo: Yeah, I'm a red kangaroo. I'm pretty sure you've seen them on telly before? Well what do you expect me to do, sing outback songs and mate with a Sheila roo right before your eyes?......I think that's what he would say if he was real. Well judging by the size, I think it's male. LOL
I would LOVE to go there! I am not a fan of the snowy wasteland that is: Canada in wintertime! I also like how they have a city named Townsville x3. A very win country! Has brought the world many great things! I would so hope to travel there someday! Btw Keen I love your maps! If you ever became a cartographer I would so buy them!
Well I am sure that a few Canadians would love to escape the cold frigid wasteland that is the north! x3 I for one hate putting up with the snow and the ice and the coldness EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. And it lasts for months! :( I like the heat honestly, I can take 30'C no problem! The Humidity I don't care for but the pure heat is fine to me! In fact I camp it out at my friends in front of his space heater cranked to max! x3
Weeeeeelll Not really xD! I am in the Southern ontario area, that's where we all be spammed at. I just don't like anything less than 20' Celcius. And anything less than 15'C is not too enjoyable to me x3. i got like next to no body fat so ofcourse anything that isn't very nice and warm is gonna be not so comfortably cool to me lol. Not sure if I could take 40' straight heat (probably but I will have to find out!) So yeah...now what we get here, which is roughly 32' when it's NOT HUMID feels just great to me, I feel good. Like my body has renewed vigor! But in the crapsack winter wonderland, I need my mandatory 5-7 layers of clothing and facemask to cope with below zero temperatures with the pesky windchill! Anyways look at me ramble! xD!
I saw you guys get snow on the news! xD Yeah, on average despite being more south than you, we get colder. Every year by the time it hits November it gets cold enough for snow, and it stays as such until probably end of March. So it stays rather cold for a while here. But we definitely have 2 very different extremes here x3 1) Very humid, pretty dry usually and warm and 2) Lot's of precipitation (in the form of snow) dry air and cold.
I would probably say you're basically on the ball there! x3 I mean we are a bit more moderated by the great lakes here, but overall the Arctic Air just races down through the continent here, I mean even way down south can get to be your temperatures! I think you guys lucked out with being more moderated and stabilized in europe. Ah well, I would be pleased if I could live in a place that could be a nice stable warm temperature in the 20' - 30'C area. Now take a look at the plains, That place is pure suck for cold temperatures, at the same latitude they can recieve down to -30' possibly -40 at times which is downright nasty! I have experienced that when I traveled east to Quebec, IT SUCKS! I do not ever want to experience that coldness ever! NEVER EVER! Lol.
Hmm yeah then again we don't have THAT, but our weather is random in the fact we can have a sunny day then suddenly a 30 minute severe thunderstorm from out of no where then it can be all drenched and back to sunny! In winter we can get whiteout conditions due to our lake effect snow squalls which can really complicate travelling around out there! But I wouldn't say it is as bad as there in the UK probably.
I'm inclined to say that probably due to our location we have the same wierdness magnet effect going on as well. It's most noticeable in the equinoxes where Spring and Summer represent the struggle of warm and cool air masses and dry and wet weather fronts all in a crazy collision vying for control of our spot. Because of our proximity to a number of decently sized bodies of water, and that we are just a little too far right from being in the middle of the continent, we tend to be heavily influenced by all manner of fronts and different pressure systems. For instance, it's rare but possible to end up with something totally bizarre like 31'C at the end of March, but in early April drop all the way to -15'C and snow. Only to raise up right after that to a moderate 20'C and thunderstorms. It's very random but more stabilized in Summer and Winter when we get a more dominant and consistent climate (Summer is similar to any non-tropical location that reaches 30' and is humid. Winter is similar to any non-arctic location that drops below zero and recieves snow for at least a quarter of the year.)
Lol that's what we be known for at the great lakes basin! Due to our unique layout with the several large bodies of water, and the fact we are no longer than a day's drive to the ocean...Well yeah xD Alot can influence it, but mainly the lakes do a great job of spawning storms all on their own, couple that with the predominantly western winds from the pacific that roll over the country and you got yourselves a conveyor belt of locally produced fronts! But the odd front from way down south, or from up north, or even the east can once in a while poke in too! So you never quite know what you will get! x3
Darwin sounds alot like us in summertime, We die in the humdity, I am always wet and sweaty from it! D: It's not from the heat obviously, but it's just....inconvenient. If I could get straight heat in the 30's ranges I would be absolutely fine with that! I would be interested to try 40's Straight heat, not sure if it would be comfortable to me or not. Still sounds nicer than less than 10'- to me with windchill. x3
40's are ok, but the heat really makes you loose all your energy XD and constantly hunting for water! I dont mind the cold as long as i have sufficient clothing.. I get cold so easily, i need MANY layers! And i also prefer to be snowboarding if i have to be in any such coldness! X'D
Ditto, I get cold very easily myself too, I need plenty of clothes on (possibly enough to dress 4-5 people!) However it's the fact I have a hard time getting too hot, and the proneness to getting chilled is what has me appreciating hotter temperatures over cooler ones x3. And yeah! The sports in the winter are at least interesting! On the contrary, I find winter to sap my strength more due to the fact I struggle more to breathe in cold air, the heavily layered clothes really weigh me down, making each step need more energy, and whatnot. The fact I am comfortable with minimal clothes and the fact I don't overheat easily at all makes my body perform at an optimum performance in summertime hotness! :3
OMFG!! I got like a million things to say about how awesome this is!! XD YEY
1st things first, HOLY CRAP you included Wagga Wagga! there's so many people that live here who don't even know about it, so thats quite a an awesome thing to see here, since thats where i'm from! Woo!
