With a looming ๐ recession, close of Q4, and ๐ธ time of year, it is time to talk about the first week of 2023. That first week is a popular time for companies to furlough and layoff. Letโs talk about what you can do to prep for the worst.
Rework your resume. It is a good practice to clean up your resume on a routine basis. Consider adding more details about your current work, make a special section to describe a major project you were part of, update LinkedIn, clean up your GitHubโฆ
Reach out to old work contacts or friends that you have not spoken to in the past year. The holiday season is a great time for sending out a 2022 newsletter, a pic and a โhow are you doing?โ This will make sure doors are open if you need help come the start of the year.
Keep this link to the state job boards: https://www.careeronestop.org/JobSe.....job-banks.aspx
This will not only help with a potential job search but it will also describe how to file for unemployment benefits through your state.
My sincere hope is you will not need any of this. But spending a little time over the next month may position you better for if something unfortunate happens.
PS: Your raise is not going to track with inflation, most likely. You could be making less money in 2023 than in 2022โฆ It might be a good time to consider other employment opportunities.
PSS: Keep in mind I am a Job Coach and am more than happy to help you navigate through the stifling process we call job searching ๐ธ
