From Chapter 4:
Words had been traded for the first third of their trek. Now, their journey was due for some silence. The young guard had a duty to be in tune with his surroundings. Zale much preferred it that way; it was what he was acclimated to.
The canopy was picturesque with its autumn hues. Every so often a gale swept away the leaves that crowded the path the Petrian and Volcani walked upon. Their paws pressing down on the dead leaves paled to the symphony of the wood; its rustling, its fauna, and its clamoring action, yet calm embrace.
Cirrus’ distaste for quiet and peaceful moments yet again clashed with Zale’s enjoyment of them, as if the addition of 4 more paw steps wasn’t enough. She tossed leaves playfully up in the air. “I much prefer the sky this time of year. It’s an even more mystical view from the heavens, but I must say, it’s beautiful down here.”
“Mhmm,” Zale grunted with disinterest. It was welcoming to have company, but beyond having Cirrus beside him, there was a connection to this place etched in his memory. In his recollection, there was fond feelings of wonder and safety that defined his curious youthful past. Part of him was glad to share this experience with someone unknown to its majesty.

Well, in review of the story guess its acceptable. That feral degree of anthropomorphism is something that can be reinforced throughout instead of the more human side of things for the imagination of audience, but if you were to slap this as a book cover for example, no-one would be all the wiser So, it is just splitting hairs I suppose and how much you wish to show that extra depth of feralism.
