No, she had to explain her mother to me. The woman is an accomplished thoracic surgeon and administrator. She hates me for the age difference with her daughter and the fact that she's only two years older than I am.
My girlfriend told me about the Japanese 'Christmas cakes' years ago. She was 28 when we first met (9 years ago) and since she was born on Okinawa, she's quite familiar with the culture.

Part of the design/plan of a certain female movement was to help stop/reduce a population explosion certain political parties didn't want, that and you can't collect any taxes on homemakers hours. So tell them they 'must' get a degree(deep debt for most of them) and then have a career(job to pay off that debt) - and that they can always have a 'family' later in life.
Which ignores biology that shows that their best 'having kids' age is before 25. (My mother was a nurse that worked OB, any 35yo coming in to unload was considered 'high risk' for both the mother and child.) And if one of those younger career gals does end up having a kid, there's daycare/childcare services to pay for(and collect them taxes on!)
If m-i-l hates your age difference - I bet she loves that actor that is known to drop his latest fling each time they hit 25!
(I do remember my dad claiming that when his wife hit 40 he was going to trade her in on a pair of twenties. When she did hit 40 his story changed that he no longer had the energy to break in a younger model - much less two of them. He passed eight years ago, still happy mom had put up with him all those years. )

My sister had her first (and only) child at age 39. Decades of 'the Pill' had taken its toll on her fertility, a dirty little secret the medical community would prefer to keep hushed up. She and her husband were actively considering going in vitro, and had an appointment for the day the P test came up positive. Delivery was uncomplicated except for the fact that my sister was slight and barely 5 feet tall. My niece is now 24 years old, gainfully employed in the medical field, and when tested in high school broke the curve with an I.Q. of 'around 200'. Her health is also quite robust. So much for the nattering of midwives.

If my recollection is accurate, Style and Greg have mentioned in Dela the Hooda's comic narrative before that some Mhârian races, like hood or nicila can be or are compatible with the planet's humans in producing healthy offspring. I feel very sure that Edith (the GELF mouse and friend of Dela and their group on Earth) has related the same compatibility regarding GELFs and humans, or at least those native to the world she came from.
