Brigsby wasn’t used to a big Christmas. Nana & Papa Bear, his new Auntie and cousins were all doting on him. He was the baby after all. When they sat him on his special gift, he pouted. The riding toy lit up and spun, played babyish music and vibrated. It made him feel small…

The toy was expensive, like Nana and Papa’s house, but that didn’t matter to Brigsby. He felt a storm of emotions well up in his chest. Tears started to form in his eyes. His little cousin pointed at him and announced, “the baby’s gunna have a tantrum”. Brigsby looked up at the larger bears surrounding him smiling and taking pictures. Cooing and and making silly faces. His daddy even knelt down and patted his head and wished him a merry Christmas. Everyone was just so happy…except him…

That’s when it became too much. All the emotions he was feeling bubbled up into his throat. It felt like a tantrum but then Brigsby laughed; and cried. He wasn’t happy to be the baby but maybe this is what a happy family looked like.
