Trying to raise 500 doubloons to get a new wheelchair to help me avoid as much as physically possible, the agony my whole back but primarily my lower spine goes through if I am up and moving and doing anything on my feet for more than like 30min
This has been a problem since my car accident (passenger) when I was 19, I spent the first year in a wheelchair constantly, I physically couldn't stand for any length of time without the same horrendous pain shooting through my back and legs, I decided I wasn't "disabled enough" to feel like it was appropriate to be in a wheelchair for several years after I was able to start getting around on my own two feet more often, so I gave my wheelchair to someone else
It's been 4 years since then, and almost 2 years since I got told by so many wonderful and supportive friends and community members that my being physically disabled, even if it's not 24/7 impairment on my mobility, it is still a huge aspect of my day that becomes dreadful to even think about otherwise
I am finally in a place where I feel comfortable enough in myself and my communities including the disability community that it no longer feels "inappropriate" to me to need a wheelchair.
I do start a new job on December 5th which will thankfully help me gain funds to get a new wheelchair, however, I already know that I am going to be in miserable pain for... each and every one of my shifts and probably days off because of no longer being used to being able to sit down or lay down whenever I reach my limit
