Last April my best friend growing up passed away. At his wake, his family gave me these boots and fedora; two of his favorite items to wear, and the ones he was wearing before cremation, to keep in his memory.
As a Christmas present for them in return I made this still life. I poured my heart into this picture and I've yet to create anything more personal.
As a photographer I can still pick it apart, and there are certain technical issues that I'll never be quite happy with, but creating this picture was extremely important to me, not just as a gift for his family but for myself.
Always thinking of you Joe.

This is really beautiful Silken, probably one of your best photos yet. I can see how much emotion and devotion you poured into this, because working from the heart is the greatest key.
I am really sorry about your friend Silken, I'm sure his parents appreciate this allot. Great work too, he'd be proud, especially having a friend like you.

silky, this picture I think is incredible, even more so cause of the sentiment. I remember how devastated you were, seemed so aweful, especially after just meeting you in april...all of that aside, I like this about as much as your 'double rainbow' piece, which I love to bits :3 <3
Silken, this peice speaks so much emotion and beauty, and its easy to tell that you put all your heart into it. Overall its a truly amazing and inspiriring art peice (and one of your bests in my opinion).Im very sorry for your loss,I could imagine he was a very close friend.
