I guess I could see working retail having a different perspective on the store soundsystem's playlist and what you would like to hear least on repeat. There are two songs I encounter this time of year that personally I can't stand at all; one by Wham! and one by Paul McCartney.

Always counter with something more irreverent. Something like Porky Pig's Blue Christmas can distract from that.

Well, I don't work in retail, so I don't hear it that much... I rather enjoy the song, sorry.

THAT SAID, I understand people hating it. If you do, subvert it.

"I don't want a lot for Christmas... All I want is you" is, frankly, a sick burn. Start thinking on that, and the whole song changes. I'm sure there's more in there to creatively reinterpret.

If you're laughing at it, it's harder to hate. Now, the VOLUME of a lot of Retail Store sound systems is much more of a problem, compared to WHAT they play on them.

Yeah, it's pretty horrible, but some of the traditional Christmas carols are either creepy or vaguely menacing.

Don't. I was on hold to my internet provider yesturday for combinded total of 1 hour and 40 mins (1 - 45 mins, and the other 55 mins) yesturday. All the hold music was christmas songs.

I actually enjoy the song, but I don't work retail so only hear it maybe a couple times a year. I pity anyone who has to hear the same limited playlist day in and day out from November to January.
