Very beautiful. *snuggles you close* I always love the way in which you write, Ethan. :) And I love that bear so much.....I always thought mortals were the worst and had the stupidest lives....it's fascinating to see a deity feel envious of US, and makes me want to be all the more closer to him...
Well, first of all, Burr is highly intelligent. He realized early on that despite their bullshit, all deities that take any kind of role in the mortal realm are fascinated by the creatures that dwell there in one fashion or another. Most of them only in selfish interests, like recruiting warriors or followers, or to observe their quirks, or to "improve their lives and enlighten them" in some sort of grand project, or sometimes even to meddle pointlessly in their lives solely for entertainment. But there is always an interest from deities in mortals, and from the high number that take them for mates, even temporarily, Burr knew that there was some kind of genuine appeal about these creatures.
Second, from his perspective, the life of a deity was highly restrictive despite the power involved and ability to help lots of people, he felt that it was more of an imposition than anything. The way mortals would attach themselves to deities' causes, changing their lives and sometimes even giving them up for a god out of sheer devotion, bothered him, because it seemed to him that there were much more fulfilling things they could be doing with their time. Loving, caring, spending time with friends and family - that sort of thing that he wished he could do.
Granted, he had a family who loved him as well, but the fact that they all expected him to become a great leader of men from on high tainted it, making him feel misunderstood and alone. He wanted to share affection, not become an object of adoration to be obeyed or feared. So he chose to give all that up for the chance to experience a rich life with the so-called lesser beings, because he knew that he had the same kind of intense, personal, impassioned love in him that they did, instead of the broad, general, cool affection of the other deities. If he had ascended, love would have probably been his primary aspect just because of that trait, but instead of just representing and embodying it as an idea, he took the opportunity to share it directly. :O3

Sounds like the foundation for another love story I want to write or read.... :) So beautiful....I'll be fantasizing about it today!!!
If I DO plan on this, don't worry, I will talk to you beforehand and ask if my ideas will require your blessing. :) Thank you for sparking my imagination yet again, Ethan. *hugs you tight* :)
