It's a bit of a bank shot reference, considering the only real thing that Mononoke Hime's shishigami and this one have in common is that they are both powerful yokai and both guard their forests. In this world, the yokai seem to wear focusing amulets, and he's absolutely got one. I'd wager a good meal that he recognized Roko's as soon as he saw it, too.
