It more likelydirected to artists who can crank out highquality art in a mere hour but charge like $50 =/ oh, and lets see.. min wage... 7.50*8=60. Most professional artists I have seen can do around 3 a day. 60(avg price?)*3=180. That is 180 a day for continuous commissions. if the artist gets a full week, that is 1260 dollars a week. More than I make in a month. So... Ya... If you are making a living on art, you shouldn't charge more than $60 on a full color/shaded, etc.. commission. It just drives away potential customers. Mind you, charging more for each character, etc...is understandable, but some artists are just plain unreasonable on prices. There was no need for your sarcasm, when someone merely stated that she is a fair art dealer, and that there are less famous, and talented artists who charge much more, and should "GTFO". Kinda see where I am coming from?
It's all business.
It's all business.
Very very few artists pump out commissions that fast in that type of quality. But in all honesty artists do deserve way more than what you're saying.
First and foremost you really can't judge how much an artist should be making by the number of hours in a day they take. What you're really paying for is the number of YYEEEEAAARSSS it took them to be able to do art in the first place. Most artists have been practicing for longer than someone with a college education who would enter the job market making a few thousand dollars a month.
When you say that these high quality artists shouldn't be making more than 60 bucks on an image that takes the average high quality artist lets say a full days work, is like telling a college graduate to start with the starting wage of a burger flipper.

Not really. Now, to me, a real artist is like Da Vinci. He did work that would have paid millions and millions today, and I am pretty sure it said he was not paid all that much, even by that days standard. The amount I specified. I have less income, and can barely even eat at times, but it is literally enough to get by. If they have that much income all the time, if they are doing it as a career, then $60 for a single character full shaded/colored is very fair. Most of the good artists I see will charge less than that, because they know how to draw in the most business. You don't get money by charging too much. You get money by drawing slightly simpler things for a decent affordable price.
Trust me, I know how a business runs. This is no different. The more you charge, the less customers you have. It is common sense. If two artists, lets use Tailz and Tofu, have the same style, they want the business, so they will charge less than their rival.
Example: Tailz sells art for $80 a pop, so Tofu will sell hers for $70. Eventually it will have to even out so they sell for the same price, or one person says eff this and leaves their price higher. Even then, it will balance out. Tailz will get as much money as Tofu, but Tofu will have more customers. See the sense? Tofu will have a little extra work, but have a larger fanbase.

I can't help but feel you're mixing the rules of "Supply & Demand" with the Value placed upon someone with several years of experience and knowledge.
Artists that charge more are more times than not justified by the experience and quality of their art that they provide. Sure you can be cheap and go for what's more affordable for YOU. But there is no reason to bash on artists that are expensive simply because you can't afford them.
Also being, artists that are in that higher range, really aren't competing with other artists cause there are people that realize the worth of their art and are willing to pay for it.

Wow. Thank you for putting words in my mouth. This conversation is now over. I did NOT bash any artists for their price, but merely stated the side of things you don't seem to see.
I have had my roommates read this, and they think you are pretty much misinformed.
I know many artists that crank out work as fast as I mentioned before, and as for the "realizing their worth" portion of your comment... That is utter bulls**t because most of these artists will lower their prices if they do not get a commission. The people that pay that amount, from what I have personally seen and heard of, usually do not know an artists as good that goes cheaper, or simply wish to support their favorite artist.
Oh, and one last thing... Where do you get off saying that someone can't bash an artist that is expensive, when you pretty much insulted this artist by saying she should charge an arm and a leg? If I drew a piece and did it to be nice, I would be quite aggravated at the nerve of some random person telling me I should abandon my sense of kindness and dignity for a little pocket change. Have fun replying, because I won't respond thanks to you being an idiot who has to put words in people's mouths to try and make your point, or shove that point down another person's throat.

First of all I never said you bashed anyone, I was refering to the person I originally commented to before you decided to add in your opinions. Also I never said that someone can't bash an artist. I just said there was no reason for it.
However in regard to your last words it seems obvious that you have a large assumption about what I mean I said I hope the artist charges a large amount. There's no insult in saying to someone that you hope they make alot of money off their craft, so I don't know where your issue is there. But it's obvious that you have to much desire to focus on the "Supply & Demand" business model which had nothing to do with my perspective on all of this to begin with.
I appreciate the conversation but you've taken this off topic and became unnecessarily defensive about it so I have no desire to continue it past this point either.

*Yawn!* Whatever crybaby... Bayonetta is not only a fantastic game, but the character herself is fully realized, emotional and well designed... unlike the likes of boring as heck Kratos in God Of War, or the bland-as-ditchwater hero from the Prince of Persia games.
Oh and it also helps that she a hottie too! :)
