"Barracuda, are you listening to me!?"
He did not reply, drinking greedily from his glass, the bottle of rum half empty by his side as Xad came down from the pole in the middle of the room.
"Bro, we lost half our crew in that fucking boarding. All for a few scraps of metal??"
She put her hands on her hips.
"If we go on like this you're gonna lose everything on this damn ship. Do you even care??"
"That's it."
He slammed his drink on the counter, droplets flying throught the air as he spoke in his roaring voice.
"Imma teach ya a lesson Xad, so be sure to listen carefully, ya got me?"
"I gotchu, I gotchu..."
"Ok, so, first things first: the world doesn't care. Keep that in mind, cause it'll save your ass more than a fucking gun in your backpocket. Did the sun stop shining? Our airship stop flying? Or those fucking birds who keep waking me up at the ass crack of dawn stop squawking? Nah, I'll tell you what. They died and nothing has changed. Not a single thing. Life goes on."
Xad twisted her lips feeling the acid in her mouth build up.
"I feel like I have changed..."
"AH! That's cause you're still a softie. It's your body telling ya you're becoming a woman. Tough skin, runs in the family."
He gestured at himself.
"And when you've grown, you'll understand that the only thing you should care about is yourself."
"But I care about you too." She replied annoyed, crossing her arms. "What happens if next time YOU're the one left behind??"
"Come on Xad. Ya know. I'm THE Barracuda. I'm invincible. I'll never die."
