Still trying to keep up with the Thursday Prompt. This week's prompt was the word "road".
As always, please check
ThursdayPrompt for good stories.
I took one look at this week's prompt and immediately thought to myself, "So, do I just rush the next chapter of Severed Roads or...?" Kind of glad I didn't because I thought this was fun to type up and I don't think the story for Severed Roads would really fit the prompt.
Still trying to work on my repeat problem, but I did manage to keep all repeats under ten usages this time, so that's an improvement, I think. Didn't give any names here because as I started, I thought maybe this could spin off into something related to another Thursday Prompt I did a while ago. May make this little scenario a running thing in the future.

I feel when bittersweet is done well, it can be really impactful. Not sure if I got the desired effect here though; feels a little rushed when I pull out the reveal (to be honest, I did rush a bit).
Thank you for taking the time to read over this one, I appreciate your thoughts.

Kept reading over your comment for a solid ten minutes thinking to myself: "interesting... but the canine doesn't actually remember his reason for walking the road..." That thought eventually turned into: "WAIT!! That could very well work! I have another story to work on now!" Thank you for the spontaneous inspiration; this one just got a bit more interesting.
I very much appreciate you thinking this one went well. There was more I wanted to do with this one, but I'm afraid I was a bit hesitant to stretch it much further.
