Does anyone remember putting their characters right next to what their first draft looked like? Well...
For those of you who are new to viewing this channel, I used to look so much different. When I started out, I was drawn using a circle for a stencil. I also wore shorts at that time, and my body was mostly one color. Now that I look back on it, it isn't something I would consider to be a high point. It felt lacking of a few details, like a neck, and some proportions were sort of off. That was the reason I've gone to fix some of those older pictures. I also added a vest and necktie, but I felt that this, too made things worse. It may have worked in spurts, but honestly it looks as though it didn't have a good enough style, and soon, it started to get old hat.
It felt as though as a drastic change was needed, so I've added or changed a few things. I've added a collar on my neck and a pear-shaped patch on my belly. I've also stopped using the circle stencils for the belly and threw out those hackneyed clothes in exchange for a t-shirt and a pear-shaped pantsless body. I honestly prefer this version because one, it feels more natural and complete, two, there's a bit more breathing room for my big, fat belly and all the more reason to show off my bellybutton, and three, some of my viewers prefer more toony scenarios, which means their design would have to accommodate for it.
But which version do you prefer? Feel free to leave a comment as to whether you prefer old Grover Grizzly or new Grover Grizzly as well as the reason as to why.
